    I saw a lot of threads online about getting instakicked by Punkbuster in Battlefield 4 and 3 and I had the same issue just now.

    I solved it and I wanted to document my solution if anyone has that problem in the future.

    TLDR:

    Your windows account is probably glitched because your username contains non ASCII-characters. Create a different user account in your pc with a normal ASCII-compliant name and play Battlefield from there. Alternatively you could figure out a way to change your username to be ASCII-compliant or factory reset your windows and set it up with a normal name.

    EXPLANATION:

    Let's say my windows username is something that contains a non-ASCII character, like Babić for example.

    Since my username has a weird character in it such as ćčšđžàñüù... or something else, what happens in C:\Users is instead of having 3 folders: Default, Public and Babić, I'll have Default, Public, Babić, Babic and Babiæ.

    This is because different programs I install interpret that non-ascii character differently. Some interpret it correctly and some don't.

    The issue comes from Origin interpreting 'ć' correctly and installing it's files into Babić and Punkbuster doesn't interpret it correctly and installs it's files into Babic. Because of this, Origin games and Punkbuster can't sync up properly, I'm guessing.

    Punkbuster also can't install correctly. When I tried to update it, I get two errors:

    Failed to create a temporary filename (Error: 267)

    can´t write buffer ´pbuser.htm´ to disk.

    If you've ever had problems installing Java this is likely the reason.

    SOLUTIONS

    (1 is a shoddy fix, 2 and 3 are much better):

    ​

    1. Create a different user on your PC and name it something normal. No weird letters. This way all the files will be in the same folder and Battlefield will work properly. Play Battlefield from that user account.
    2. Figure out a way to change your username to be ASCII-compliant. (I say 'figure out a way to change your username' because I couldn't find a way to change my username and make those folders inside C:\Users change as well. There probably is a solution out there, I just couldn't be bothered to find it.)
    3. Factory reset your windows and set it up with a normal username.

    In fact, I love every single Battlefield game ever made, and here's why:

    1. Teammates! They're always there for you 😀

    Everytime I hop on a 24/7 locker server I'm met with these strange individuals. A lot of the time though, we get into many disagreements, especially with what the objective of the game truly is. About 90% of my team seems to confuse the Conquest game mode with another popular game mode called "American Football", where the main goal is to push through the resistance and reach the opponents side of the map. They have succeeded in this many times, and usually celebrate afterwards near the opponents spawn area by setting up camp.

    However, here is where the rest of my team, me included, come to a disagreement with the majority. See, the game alludes to the game mode being called "Conquest" instead, where the objective is to drain the opposing teams tickets by capturing and holding more objectives than them. Emphasis on the word "holding". In American Football however, the opponents being left behind on the previously captured objectives doesn't make matters worse for the attacking side, which might be where the confusion comes from. This, and the 17+ age rating on the game, leave me with the assumption, that the majority of my team has unfortunately suffered severe brain damage, and cannot see a difference between the two game modes 🙁 This brings me to my next point, which is...

    1. Helping the disabled👍

    Not only with third party hardware, such as a Cronus Max, but also with an easy on/off switch for aimbot straight in the gameplay settings menu. It even comes enabled by default, and only for the disabled. Both of these in theory should benefit the grand majority of players, that as stated before, seem to be suffering from severe brain damage. What seems strange to me though, is that even with all of these available options, most of the disabled community doesn't seem to get enough help from them alone. Enemies can run across their screen as well as be displayed with bright red dorito shapes on their minimap. Yet to no avail all they do is stand still and continue fulfilling their duty, which always leads to them getting murdered by the enemy D: Maybe some additional assistance could be of great use for them, such as a spinbot, or wall hack, since the aimbot doesn't seem to be enough.

    Some disabled players seem to get great use out of the previously mentioned assistances though 😀 By this, I mean they top the scoreboards and average a K/D of over 5. Hereby I congratulate DICE on being one of the first game developers to give their biggest support for the disabled community, and hope they continue to do the same in the future! Even the biggest shooter games on the console market, such as Rainbow Six Siege and PUBG don't come with pre-packaged aimbot which has made me lose all respect for the companies behind said games. Though, at the beginning of Battlefield 5's life cycle, the aimbot option was missing, but towards the end DICE finally pulled it through, and added more accessibility features to the game.

    P.S. A lot of you might call me crazy for saying this, but has anyone else noticed the massive oversight made by DICE in regards to these accessibility options? I, for the record, am not disabled by any stretch of the imagination, but I still have the option to turn on aimbot in the settings. Anyone else having the same issue, or is it just me?

    Hello,

    So I had my eye on this game for some time, and now I'm actually considering on getting it. What makes this game catch my eye is the gameplay, part of the battlefield franchise, modern and doesn't need a beefy pc to run (as it's like 7 years old).

    Is this game worth getting now (for pc, preferably Origin)? Is it well priced, good servers, and most importantly: is there lots of great and fun content?
