    Tweet from EA/DICE employee partwelsh:

🎮 There's an odd issue we're investigating where some players on console are unable to press A/X, Y/△ to get past the welcome screen. A possible workaround has been suggested that encourages connecting the controller directly with a USB Cable, and disconnecting headsets/devices

Battlefield 2042 Looks Worse Than BF1 and Plays Worse Than BF4

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 05:34 AM PDT

The fact that not only is the gameplay dynamic unlike any Battlefield game, which is horrible,

the game looks worse than their 2016 rendition BF1 and weapon impacts are lesser than Battlefield 4. There is nothing about this game in my personal opinion that breaks any ground or works seamlessly together, it feels scrapped in quickly like a rust layer patchwork. While it's true the scaleup needs to come with concessions, that doesn't include movement and gunplay feel that are inferior to a 2013 rendition; I feel a strong delay into March is an absolute necessity.

To be perfectly honest, I saw this coming as soon as I laid my eyes on the trailer and its bizarre visual design, and more so when I got to see snippets of gameplay which were clearly purposely omitted as much as possible because they look and feel terrible. With 3+ development years it is clear the true hands-on talent and passion are gone even with a massive addition of workforce. I didn't like it from the moment I set my eyes on it but gave it a strong chance, the 'bias' isn't without merit and is now confirmed. Seeing fake creators faux their way into praising the game for mediocrity and the official Battlefield account's comments pinned on their videos only reinforces my view.

The BF1 beta blew me away the first time I jumped on, the visuals and feel of that game is something that was ingrained in my mind, jumping on BF2042 felt like jumping on a FTP game. It's cheap through and through.

I felt as if I was playing Warzone with inferior mechanics. The talent is just. Not. There. It's clear the people that understand good, original and Battlefield design are gone. Plus the ping is constantly so horrible the gunplay consistency is on par with a 2006 game.

    Opinions?

My only criticisms so far of 2042

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 12:33 AM PDT

    1. The default control settings on console are janky as fuck.

    2. Because everyone is using the same specialists regardless of side, the only way to identify an enemy is if they have a tag above their head or not. Everyone just looks the same.

    3. Jet and heli controls are just, idk even know what they were thinking.

EDIT: oh, and it takes between 3 to 6 direct tank shots to take out a helicopter (3 for little bird, 4 or 5 for appache, 6 for osprey).

If the osprey pilot is even remotely cautious they can still survive you giving them 5 direct hits and go back to heal up, and then come back, requiring you to hit them another 6 times.

    Unable to play the beta?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 12:01 AM PDT

Anybody else getting the issue where it says you must pre-order or have an active EA Play subscription to access the beta? I know for a fact I have EA Play since I can download all the other Battlefield titles for free.

Operator system is a HARD NO for me..

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 05:44 AM PDT

This is my opinion, so don't get triggered or try to attack me

It doesn't feel like bf at all. "The Russians have taken A" Oh you mean the team that is made up of mixed "mercs" for lack of a better term. There is not a single sense of TEAM warfare, when everyone is playing as the same operators. They should of had sets of operators and locked them to the specific sides at least..
All sense of actual warfare is gone, when you are just shooting enemy mercs, then look over at your team and it looks, sounds, and feels the exact same.

I get that its just reskinned classes, and yes the gameplay is the same and so on. But I wish there was at least sets of operators who are specific to the factions. Or the ability to just toggle a setting that cosmetically just makes everyone generic faction soldiers, so that people who like the idea of operators, also get to enjoy their preferences too of course.

    First bf moment in bf2042

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 06:31 AM PDT

Is it just me or does BF2042 not seem that good?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 01:17 AM PDT

I've only played the game for a little while but straightaway the graphics to me did not seem like an upgrade from titles like battlefield one, which is disappointing considering it's operating on entirely new next generation hardware.

Secondly other UI option seems to be a little weird like having to select a grenade before you throw it, I'm sure you can probably change this but it's really frustrating. Overall feels a little clunky but perhaps this is expected for a beta test.

Keen to hear other thoughts and opinions.

    My Honest Thoughts

    Posted: 06 Oct 2021 02:36 AM PDT

I'm gonna start this off by saying that if you are enjoying this so far then don't let anyone opinion change that, you are allowed to love it and I'm pretty jealous of you.

But for me (I grew up on Bad Company and BF3-4) this doesn't feel like Battlefield. First impressions is that it almost feels like a underbaked warzone

My personal issues that led to me refunding - Firstly, the game has had a huge visual downgrade, hopefully this is just a beta thing but as it stands, on lowest settings I am running sub 60 frames and even on high settings the visuals do not stack up (this is due to my super ultra wide and 1070 trying it's best)

    • Everything feels arcade and loose. Guns don't feel good and the bullet tracers are obnoxiously large

    • personally, I'm not a fan of the attachment changes in game.

    • sniping is rough. No marks for distance on scope really hinders long range and the dual render scopes ain't for me (keep that in CoD)

    • I do love the return to modern tho and I really do want the best for this game.

But for me. It's a no and I have refunded the pre order. But I am interested in your thoughts - The gameplay overall is hard to read, I have a lot of experience in Battlefield and other FPS but honestly I have no clue what is happening half the time and I have shot just as many of my teammates as I have enemies
