Posted: 12 May 2020 09:33 PM PDT I mean seriously I don't mind the wait it's just that the "death process" in BF4 / BF1 (e.g. you get a death screen with your foe´s stats and medics have until the death screen is over to revive you) is so much better than BFV's looking at the sky with an arm up asking for help. It also works better for a sandbox first-person shooter, which is what Battlefield is. [link] [comments]

[BFV] [BF1] What do you prefer BF1 or BFV? Posted: 13 May 2020 03:14 AM PDT I want to preface this all by saying i am not the battlefield veteran since 2002 guy I started playing BF1 around halfway between BF1 and BF5 so I am pretty new. Because I started playing so late into BF1s life cycle I never really got games of any gamemode except operations and conquest. A few times I got game of the one where you had to blow up thing I can't remember its name but one time only once I got a game of the sky battle one and I loved that. So because I play on console and they gave out the entire DLC for free on console I could queue up for oil of empires and know I'm in for 10 minutes to an hour of enjoyment. For me coming into BFV hyped for grand operations it was a major let down. It didn't have the war feeling because to me operations is about pushing into enemy territory and breakthrough is the mode that does that best so when I play grand operations it gets me feeling like I'm playing minecraft minigames but instead of the fast paced games it is spending ten minutes running from a gun to a bomb then back to your gun because your team didn't pick up the bomb only for you to die alone and have to repeat this over and over until you smash the enemy and they all leave or you lose. Also capturing a random french city is not a grand operation a grand operation is pushing into ottoman controlled lands to take the Suez canal and the oil from the land so the British can win the war. But recently when I played Soloman islands, even on conquest when i normally play breakthrough, I got that hectic war experience of operations that i was wishing grand operations was like and I loved it running through the jungle felt dangerous there was no idle running to get somewhere when you know you are safe it actually felt like there were enemies around every corner. So if all of BFV was like that I would say BFV for sure but conquest on wake island with some retard who tops the tank every 5 meters to check for enemies behind him and monotonous is the majority of the BFV experience for me whereas playing every operation on BF1 felt intense (except monte grappa, fuck monte grappa) and the little I played with the other modes I enjoyed. But I would like to hear what other people think especially the veterans. [link] [comments]

I sincerely hope that [BF6] has some relation to 2142. Posted: 12 May 2020 08:53 PM PDT Whether it's 2143 or a prequel like the final stand DLC from BF4. I know there are a lot of veterans like myself that have been DYING for a follow up game to 2142. Unfortunately, I think futuristic games get a lot of hate around here because most people think it will be like Apex legends, COD Infinite warfare, or any of the other futuristic games out there. I also know that the majority of the community did not start playing the BF franchise until it came to console with the Bad Company series. While I loved the Bad Company series and obviously BF3 and BF4, I think it's time for a different setting. There has been so many modern / historical BF games at this point. Give us something different. Also, back to my original point for the "newer" BF franchise players introduced during the Bad Company days that may have absolutely no interest in a futuristic game, BF 2142 was extremely "realistic" and "Grounded" if that makes sense. It was basically Battlefield 2 with a futuristic "skin" on it. People might say, "well if it just feels like a skin then why not just make a really good modern warfare game." I would say that even tho it was kind of like a skin, it gave off a great vibe of this futuristic feeling with really high tech BELIEVEABLE weapons, gadgets, and vehicles. You really felt like you were playing this super futuristic game, yet everything about it felt realistic. The guns fired real bullets with bullet travel/drop No wall running No jet packs No special power ups Just good classic battlefield gun play with cool battlefield gadgets that had a slight futuristic twist on them. Also going into the future gives DICE some creative freedom as well to think of new vehicles, weapons, gear, etc. Instead of all of the same weapons and vehicles we've had in every other modern warfare game for the last 15+ years. 2142 also had titan mode which im sure almost everyone on this sub has heard at one point or another whether they played the game or not. Titan mode is arguably the best game mode the battlefield franchise has ever had. I think almost every single person that has played 2142 would agree and the people that would disagree are people that never played 2142. Titan mode was basically a mixture of conquest and rush. It's similar to the carrier assault mode from BF4 where you have to capture missle silos to weaken the ship or titan in this case before you can board it. Titan mode was just so much better than carrier assault and I can only imagine what a next Gen titan mode would be like. Think BF1 with the Zepplins, except the zeppelin is fully fleshed out on the inside and you have to board the ship in a variety of different ways and fight your way thru the ship to destroy the reactor core in the middle to win the game. First team to destroy the other teams Titan wins. The game mode was just unbelievable. I can only imagine that player counts will start going up to over 100 players and also if 2143 does come around I can only imagine multiple titans per a team in titan mode. Now having said all this, DICE/EA could royally fuck this game up and ruin it for all the veterans and prove all the people right on this sub who do not want a futuristic game by adding all kinds of whacky power ups, jet packs and other shit. The developers need to keep this as "grounded" as possible and provide a true Battlefield experience that I know they haven't forgotten how to make. They just need to dig down deep and deliver an awesome game (whatever setting it may be) to get this franchise back on track. [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 May 2020 09:07 AM PDT I play PS4 and recently had an itch to play some BF1 but I basically only play hardcore and can't seem to find any HC servers of any game type. In fact, I don't even see an option to change it to HC in the server browser and the Custom HC games puts me in an empty lobby. Am I doing something wrong or has BF1 HC truly died?.. [BF] Why BF6 will have a WWII setting, my two cents Posted: 13 May 2020 06:45 AM PDT What if..... the next BF chapter is another WW2 setting? Makes sense if you think about it, in BFV none of the major battles were included, Stalingrad (and the enire eastern front for now) are left out, no D-DAY, battle of Berlin, Pearl harbor etc. We did have Iwo Jima but that is a 'small' map setting compared to the others. What if they initially wanted an entire WW2 episode but realised they could never pull it off before the new consoles are released. We all felt the game wasn't really ready when released (did they rush it so BFV and BF6 would have a bit of time between them?) Right know it feels like they pulled the plug early and without finishing the WW2. My guess is that they need all their resources to be the first major shooter on the new consoles and creating a fan base on these consoles, PS5 and latest Xbox are coming this year so they needed to hurry. These consoles will also have much better specs, opening the door to more players on a map and bigger battles like D-Day, Stalingrad etc. Shifting focus to consoles will have some other advantages too, hardly any cheaters, same specs for all players etc. PS5 and the new Xbox could also play cross platform making it more attractive for friends with different consoles to play together. Well in my head it makes sense, what do you think? [link] [comments]

[Other] My issue with a new Battlefield Vietnam Posted: 13 May 2020 06:28 AM PDT First of all, I'm not an expert regarding the Vietnam War, this is just my personal opinion based of what I've read about the Vietnam War on wikipedia. Furthermore I want to apologise for misspellings bc English is not my first language. I didn't play Battlefield Vietnam and Battlefield BC2: Vietnam, but from what I've seen both were absolute stunning. Another battlefield in that setting would probably be great. Modern setting, modern weapons, tanks, air vehicles, jungle maps etc. But I personally don't think Dice and EA will bring us another battlefield with Vietnam setting just because of the fact that it would be very difficult for them to portrait the USA as "the good" in this setting. From what I've read Vietnam was divided in north and south. The north was supported by the Russians and wanted a united communistic Vietnam. The south was supported by the USA who didn't want Vietnam to become communist because they feared that this could have the effect that other Asian countries could become communist too. The prime Minister of South Vietnam Ngo Dinh Diem was basically a dictator in my opinion. He didn't recognize Buddhism (which was very popular in South Vietnam) as a religion. Diem launched the "Denounce the Communists" campaign, during which suspected communists and other anti-government elements were arrested, imprisoned, tortured, or executed. People in South Vietnam called his regime corrupt and unscrupulously. There was the plan to have united Vietnam votings in 1956 but Diem canceled them. With this move he violated the genvea agreement from 1954. After that he faked voting results and became president of South Vietnam. The USA supported him. Population became mistrusting in the regime and people started to fight back with the support of north Vietnam. The war started. During the war between 2 and 5.1 million people died (no accurate estimates available). So basically usa supported a dictatorship neither the population of north and south wanted to be in charge? They used chemical weapons and napalm, dropped bombs on villages where they suspect "vietcongs" and killed a ton of civilians because of these methods. In my opinion this war was just bullshit and there are no winners, just losers. In my opinion the Vietnam War was not justified by anything but by the US claim to power. I'm just curious about how Dice and EA want to bring this into a video game and still glorify the USA. How will you do marketing for such a game in 2020?! Maybe they could be unbiased like in Bf1 and just show us that war is bad and there are no good and evil but idk. How would your new Battlefield Vietnam look like in terms of weapons, gadgets, setting and maps, storyline etc? Pls correct me if I'm wrong as I said I'm not an expert and these are just my thoughts. Pls feel free to criticize and share your own thoughts on that topic. Greets remanunex [link] [comments]

Posted: 13 May 2020 01:09 AM PDT BF4 - square map located at the bottom left hand corner with the time and objectives at the top of the map. Squad player names next to the map. BF1 - circle map located at the bottom left hand corner. Objectives and timer at the top middle of the screen. Squad players next to map. BFV - same as BF1 but a square map. COD MW - circle map at the top right hand corner. Compass and objectives at the top middle of the screen. Personally for me either a BF4 or BFV layout would be good. Square map is better than circle. I hope they don't follow COD'S method of implementing a compass. Which is your ideal multilayer UI layout? [link] [comments] |
