[Other] I genuinely wouldn't mind if the next Battlefield game was just an improved clone of BF3 / BF4

Also please bring back spotting. Yes, it makes the game easier and less realistic but I think it encourages team play and makes the game more enjoyable as a military sandbox.

Battlefield 6 needs to be a masterpiece at launch...[BFV]

    Posted: 24 Apr 2020 04:00 AM PDT

...or it's probably over. That's it. No more Battlefield. That's a scary thought. The series has been in trouble for awhile, but now more people are jumping ship than ever before.

Next game has to launch in a similar quality to other contemporary, polished AAA games like Cod. Meaning, it feels like a finished game. Runs well, little to no glitches. Just all around feels polished. That should be expected of any AAA title.

The communities patience is up. No more of this releasing of unfinished/unpolished games. It's ridiculous. You're not an indie studio.

I hate imagining the series coming to and end. It has so much going for it, just the wrong people in charge. It's so frustrating and makes me really sad.

That being said, there is part of me that is optimistic. Maybe Battlefiled needed to get its ass kicked for them to realize they need to take a look in the mirror. They have gotten way to comfortable with the idea of, "Oh, it'll get fixed eventually. Then the game will be good. Our fans are loyal. They'll stick around."

Well, I'm not too sure about that anymore.

So yeah, a few keys to success for the next game. I've heard several of these come up repeatedly in the community.

    • Launch as a polished/finished game.

    • Better communication between devs and community.

    • Take place in modern times

    • Go for dark, realistic, gritty feel. It worked great for Battlefield 1 and then again recently with Modern Warefare. Look at they hype around that game just because of its realistic feel in certain parts. Grittiness sells.

    • Drop single player. Dont waste the development time. Focus on making the best multiplayer experience possible.

    • Attachment/Upgrade system like BF4

    • Commander like BF2

    • Large maps that have varied terrain and buildings. Not just open flat maps where almost every objective looks like the same place.

    • Use the whole map. Space objectives all over. Not just a cluster of them withing quick, running distance.

    • Plenty of varied vehicles on the maps.

    • Throw in a community favorite BF2 map as one of the launch maps. Add a few more from BF2 or another fan favorite like BC2 of BF4 in DLC.

    • Make a launch map that's a very well known place in the United States. Some iconic place in San Fran, NY, LV, LA, Hollywood. Recreate it almost exactly. Give youtubers a reason to make videos with side by side comparisons of the two. Make people go, "Wow, that's exactly like real life. It's amazing! What an amazing job. They got every little detail!" I just think it'll add to the hype. Everybody was talking about Piccadilly in Modern Warefare before it released. That kind of stuff sells. The US is a huge market. Choose a famous US location and it could create some extra interest.

    • Nightime variations of maps.

    • Get rid of being so blinded by sunlight when looking out windows.

    • Get rid of the automatic spotting.

    • Keep the new location spotting instead of old enemy spotting.

    • Keep squad revive.

    • Slightly larger squads

    • Fortifications can stay but need to be expanded on.

    • Keep gunplay and movement pretty much as is. Leaning, crouch running, and aiming all feel great.

    • Running speed is great in BF5 but leads to too many players constantly running around like crazy. This turns off many players who want to play the game a bit more tactically (veteran players in the community). But then, it turns away a lot of new players if movement is sluggish. My idea for fixing this would be bringing back a stmina bar, but you never are forced to stop running. Basically, the first 30% of the stamina bar is running at the speed of BF5. The next 70% drops to the speed of say BF3. After the last 70% drops to zero, you can continue to run at that speed, but your weapon's accuracy is dropped by 35%. Your character will start breathing loud and the stamina bar will flash red until you stop running.

    • Focus on how to enforce squad cooperation. If you dont want to play as a squad, dont. If you do, it should be enforced or rewarded a little more. Maybe make it so you can only spawn on you squad if there are two members within a certain distance of eachother, idk.

I just think this would be cool...

    • When squad members run up to heal a downed squad mate, there is a prompt that gives the option to drag to cover.

    • Maybe add some NPCs on your team's base during conquest. They give minimal to no xp if killed by the enemy and just add to the atmosphere. They could be running supplies, repairing vehicles, talking to eachother, tending to a wounded, dying soldier, working the runway, etc.

[BFV] WW2 : a goldmine for battlefield that was never properly used

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 02:03 PM PDT

WW2 had (almost) EVERYTHING a battlefield game needed and if you ask me it's a worse decision to stop the support ... let me go into detail : -1) WW2 was popular (for all the wrong reasons) , so popular that it doesn't need to be explained -2) WW2 had so many factions (Americans-French-British-Russians-Germans-Italians-Japanese) -3) WW2 had so many iconic battles (fall of Berlin- Battle of the bulge - Dday - attack on the Pearl Harbor- invasion of Soviet Russia which has the battle of Stalingrad- battle of Paris and occupied France - etc ) -4) The battles of WW2 took place over a variety of different environments and atmospheres (battles of North Africa in deserts - invasion of Soviet Russia in snowy weather and snow covered fields - fall of Berlin and occupied France with its close quarter streets in a big city - Pearl Harbor with its tropical environment - Italy with its Mediterranean environment - etc ) -5) WW2 had a variety of different weapons and vehicles (this point has no further detail and honestly it's passable in BFV)

In my opinion it's HARDER to mess an opportunity like this up than to actually make a decent (not even good .. just decent) game Final note : I know this has been a long post but I'm gonna end it with a question : -Do you think EA would back down and continue their support for a couple of months and add AT LEAST a few more iconic battles ( I would really love to see Fall Of Berlin - D.day - Battle of Stalingrad in this game , and considering this is a WW2 game , I think it's justified ) OR do you think EA will leave this game and return to WW2 after 1-2 more battlefield games ? ... I really wished this game would have gotten better

[BF1] PC - Salty Noobs Back to Basics Server

    Posted: 24 Apr 2020 10:16 AM PDT

Hey y'all, Salty Noobs is bringing a Back to Basics Server live. We've all enjoyed our basic conquest, but so many of us missed the B2B experience!

B2B makes the server "custom" and requires you to change your server filters to find it. Follow along on how to do that here: https://imgur.com/a/V0SDDLP.

B2B is no tanks, no planes, no behemoths, no elites, 32v32 conquest. One standard issue rifle is granted per team (https://imgur.com/rtav59l), you have a choice of any unlocked pistol you own, and all class gadgets and explosives are on. To help ease the transition into B2B, we're going to turn off Squad Leader Spawn Only and allow for 50% respawn time. The server is NA E and it is open to any regional player. So please consider joining us even if you aren't based in NA.

We will be starting the seed to get the server going around 5PM EST 4/24/2020.

This server WILL be moderated. No cheating, no slurs, and skilled players actively volunteering to balance themselves to the losing team.

If this server does well over the next week, we will continue to support it with an active admin team and current ban list for 6 more months.

[Discussion] BF5 is done. What are some things you'd like to see in the next Battlefield iteration?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2020 01:08 AM PDT

I know its a long shot to expect such a good game from DICE at this point, but I really love this series and dont want it to die with BFV. Theres lots of stuff we've had in previous titles that could come back, as well as some stuff seen on other franchises that would be welcome. I hope its set on a modern/near-future time, if so

    For me it should include:

    • Gunsmith customization (like Modern Warfare and Ghost Recon)
    • Go back to BF4 system of attachments
    • Cross-play
    • Being able to grab small packs of health and ammo from teammates
    • All vehicles are customizable (even transport choppers, jeeps and stuff should have unlockables)
    • Possibly an improved version of fortifications (so that they are relevant)
    • Premium (way better than live service) but imo maps or at least game modes could be free
    • Commander mode (like BF2 did it)
    • Possibly increased player count
    • Go back to how BF4 handled class-specific guns (dmrs, carbines and shotguns were all-class)
    • Go back to how BC2/BF3 handled maps (gameplay first, looks second(
    • If possible having levolution again would be cool
    • Night versions of the maps
    • Carrier Assault (without the damned parachute spawns over the ships, and make them bigger)
    • Keeping squad revive would be cool
    • Some sort of mechanic to help the losing team like BF1 maybe (if losing by a large margin)
    • Multiple factions (maybe we could have a EU alliance?)
    • Honestly it would be nice to have the option to use Battlelog, but I doubt they bring it back
    • Proper support for community servers
    • Proper firing range
    • Proper CTE
    • Proper gameplay customization options (crosshair color, hud size, objetive transparency, etc)
    • Proper comm-rose
    • A sort of squad upgrade system like BF4 and a way for the squad leader to deploy stuff like BFV
    • I honestly would rather a real map like BF3/4 over the live-feed of BF1/V. A squad feed is good tho
    • Bring back core/hardcore separation. Or just make classic the default experience.
    • Bring back the BF3/4 HUD aesthetic instead of this battlefront-esque minimalist looking one
    • Bring back how BF3/4 handled spread, recoil, bloom, sway, damage, sniper range and so on
    • PROXIMITY CHAT
    • A ping system like many BR's have to mark a spot for enemies/traps/whatever
    • DICE Official servers for PC (to have the option to play all game modes not just conquest and tdm)

And last of all. Go back to being the semi-arcade shooter we know and love instead of trying to be this contraption of everything that is popular on the market currently like a BR-e-sports-COD thingy. Idk what happened to the company who made the games I've sinked more than 5000 hours combined, but get your shit together before the most unique large-scale game we have loses its heart for good.

[Other] Make Battlefield 3 Free to Play

    Posted: 24 Apr 2020 06:54 AM PDT

With the disappointing launch of Battlefield V combined with the news that its support will be wrapped up, it would be awesome to see Battlefield 3 become free to play. Regardless of how good BF3 was, the 9 year old game is arguably not worth the $20 (USD) price tag due to its lack of players in some regions. The revival of this game could hopefully bring some positivity back to the franchise and encourage people to stay at home :).

[BFV] Is it really so bad that BFV's life span will end soon?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2020 11:08 AM PDT

Admittedly, I've been late to the party with BFV, since a depression period sapped my interest in gaming for a bit. I've mainly played the game here and there last Summer and this past month or so. In the past, I've played 1942, Bad Company, BF3, BF4, Hardline, BF1, etc. BF1 in particular is one of my favorite shooter games of all time.

Looking at this game, it's tricky. I want to have faith there's something quality here. It isn't a total wreck, as far as gameplay. I think the crouch run is a nice addition and the chance to be revived after each death can get tedious but I know it can encourage teamwork and it is nice to be revived when it does happen. The TTK is too fast in its current state. Having said that, I wasn't really around for the changes it went through and I will say I do think it was fine in BF1 (if it ain't broke, don't fix it). Were they trying to emulate CoD with a faster TTK? Don't they realize many BF fans usually see the franchise as the higher quality alternative to CoD?

I will say that the menu system is kind of a mess and it feels slow and clunky to navigate, as well as simply having too much going on. Also, it feels full of microtransactions.

On a side note, it was quite stupid to include female soldiers and make them so prominent in the marketing imagery of a WWII game. Enough with the leftist SJW crap. Ideology is polluting the pursuit of excellence.

Are the player numbers that high at this point? Maybe it makes more sense to send off this game with one more update and then direct resources toward the next game so that one can launch smoothly and be up to the kind of quality of something like BF1.

    Discuss.
