The future of BF2042 looks kinda bright, but you and I should stay skeptical

    Posted: 17 Apr 2022 07:15 AM PDT

The tweet of the dev saying that most of the dev team is working on BF2042 just split off into groups focusing on different things explains quite a bit.

I have to realize that no way in hell it takes an entire AAA dev team 5 months to add a scoreboard. It have to be a very small group. The next group which is larger could be the ones working on Update 4.0 with the 400+ bug fixes, weapon overhaul. The next one could be working on Season 1 and improving it and have the time to do it since it's been delayed to summer. All of them are probably listening to player feedback since it's taking this long and the feedback not what they originally planned to develop.

For games like BF, most of the dev team move on to the next project post launch of the current one. The amount of devs working on the same game post-launch is abnormal. I think the COULD be pulling a semi-No Man's Sky.

Or they're lying out of their teeth like they did pre-launch "wE ArE 6 MoNTHS aHeAD Of ScHduLe"

BF2 and BF2042 seems to be really similar in terms of map design

    Posted: 17 Apr 2022 12:38 AM PDT

I think that BF2 and BF2042 shares a lot of similairities that many don't realised at all, like how vehicle rapes are pretty much very prevalent in both games (though BF2 has an even more severe case due to how restricted the anti-tank class in their guns and ammo, and they have to rely on others, while in 2042 everyone can equip a Carl Gustav), to its in depth class system (7 in BF2 and 10 Specialists in 2042 which can be divided into 4 general category) and finally its map design. Now many people will say that I am on crack or I am just trolling, but in BF2 maps that is large af and puts a heavy emphasis on vehicle to vehicle war, you can see that the two design philosophies being very similar, that is decentralisation in action.

    https://battlefield.fandom.com/wiki/Hourglass

    https://battlefield.fandom.com/wiki/Strike_at_Karkand/Battlefield_2

As you can see, you can divide CPs in BF2 into sectors, like Hotel and Square can be a sector, or Train Crash and that other point on the top left side of the map could be another sector, and the last 4 points can be an entire big sector.

Now you maybe wondering, why does Karkand look like a Breakthrough map? Well sorry for my fault, but Karkand is specifically a Conquest Assault map, which is Breakthrough before Breakthrough was a thing. In fact most of the Conquest Assault maps for BF2 are very linear in nature.

Or course maps like FuShe pass or Songhua Stalemate shares more of 2042's feature because they are very chaotic in its map design.

But I think what 2042 is trying to do is to make a more dynamic map due to map layout in previous game being very linear and just will always become meat grinder at one point, which is what 2042's maps are really good at avoiding.

So my conclusion is that BF2 and BF2042 are somwhat the same in how they choose CPs, but different in how they expect the player to approach the problem. BF3/4/1/V expects players to just fumble into the middle of the the map and fight to the death (with some flanking opportunities in 3 and 4, but most of the maps in 1 and V are just meat grinding experience), but 2 expect player to spread evenly around the map to apply pressure, just like how 2042 is supposed to be played. 2042 also expects the utmost situational awareness from players, just like BF2, but it's easier to outmanuever enemy's armours now.

If you can add anything or correct something from this post, feel free to comment.

Sorry if you think I am talking out of my ass here, because I haven't been able to refine this post much and give a lot of though about it. I'll be thankful if you can help me, especially people who played BF2

So I just bought battlefield 1 and the they shall not pass dl. I bought battlefield 1 solely for a ww1 experience, and to my surprise Frontlines and domination aren't a fucking thing anymore. I literally bought a game I'm not about to play, right after buying 2042, ALSO a game I'm not about to play. What the fuck dice?
