What was the point of the 2042 beta? Should we get a second beta? Posted: 23 Oct 2021 03:40 AM PDT From what I understand, betas are released for 2 primary reasons: to allow developers to get feedback and to give players a taste of what's to come. Based on DICE's own words and what we've seen released over the past few days I don't see how either of those reasons could have been fulfilled. If they wanted feedback, they should have given us a more current build of the game. You can't give meaningful feedback on something that isn't representative of the final product. Same goes for giving us a taste. Seeing what I've seen about the rest of the specialists makes it seem like it's going to be an entirely different game at release. The overwhelming majority of feedback from the beta appeared to be negative, and so far DICE's strategy for quelling our fears has been to say "don't worry it'll be better at launch!". However the more I learn about this game the less I think I'm going to enjoy it. It's gotten to the point where I find myself saying "I'll have to try it and see for myself". Which begs the question, should we get a second beta? I wanted this game to drop just as badly as everyone else here but at this point I still have no idea if I want to buy it or not. There's a lot that DICE has left on the table and are asking us to trust them but I just can't bring myself to do it. It's such a sharp departure from what Battlefield usually is. I think they owe us a second chance to get a taste of their true vision for this game. [link] [comments] | ||
