2v4 on B flag bazaar, I'm standing on ledge in kitchen and my squad mate is pools.

What would the percentage play be?

Or, in other words - If you play this scenario out, 100 times, what play would win you the highest % of engagements?

Now this question can either be a relatively easy one to answer, or a really hard one – depending how you look at it.

Let's suppose the 1 enemy that is in Opposite spams the garage door gets hitmarkers. They'll win the fight over B, right?

What % of times would someone spam the exact spot where I am? 20%? 30%? 50%?

Would the percentage change depending on how good the player you are playing is? Probably.

Would the percentage change if the enemy's had played you before and knew your tendencies? Probably.

These are all things that can complicate what the right +ev play is.

+ev is a poker term which literally translates to expected value. It can be taken to mean, in simple terms, what is the good choice, or the choice with the best percentage outcome, in any situation where you

have numerous choices.

'Random plays' are often classified as such because they have low –ev, but it is not always so simple. As mentioned before, knowing players tendencies can influence the expected values of a play. Likewise,

taking an unfavorable aim duel is usually not the +ev play, but if for example, during the game your aim had previously been on point, and the other player you were in a 1v1 duel with had started the game very

poorly, and perhaps you knew he had a propensity to tilt, it might actually make the –ev play into a +ev play. Does this still mean over time you should still play this way?

Now, back to my squadmate's play – some might call this baiting, some might call it intelligent baiting, some might call it swindling. Baiting often has a negative connotation, and rightly so. Over the long

run, trading, staying close to your team mates and using teamwork is more often than not going to result in favorable situations for you.

Sometimes, we see in 1vx, 2vx, 3vx situations, baiting being an effective alternative to trading. For example, in my squadmates's play, his unexpected play of hugging pool-side wall and wide peeking big spawn

resulted in a 2v4 situation becoming a 1v1 (assuming I die to the garage door spam). Of course, the enemy with who spammed me is in Opposite so was unable to see my squadmate widepeeking Big.

This topic is not really supposed to have a clear answer, but really make you think a little more about percentage plays, and how the right thing is not always the correct play. Vice versa, the wrong play can

also win games – whether because it is an unexpected play that becomes +ev due to non meta factors, or whether the opponents simply do not expect you to do something so stupid, to put it bluntly. This can be

seen time and time again in pubs where the seemingly n00b play wins out – after all, you'd have to be so stupid to make this play it catches one off guard.

What do you think? Is my squadmate's play +ev, -ev, a smart example of baiting, or a lucky example of baiting? Is it just a smart play? Is pushing somewhere in a 2v4 simply put - what he had to do? Did the

enemy's mistakes make this play +ev? Did my squadmate's skill make this play +ev? What does that mean when you play lower level opponents who are more prone to mistakes?
