[BF] Why, in my opinion, Battlefield 1 (and most other Battlefield titles) play out better on console rather than on PC.

    Posted: 15 May 2020 08:39 AM PDT

To begin, I'd like to state that my very first Battlefield experience was Bad Company 2 on the PS3. The very first Battlefield game I played on PC was BF4 back in 2013. I'd also like to say that Battlefield is my favourite shooter franchise of all time, and I have played BF3, BF4 and BF1 extensively on both console and PC, I have also played a bit of BF5 but I quit playing it almost entirely like many others due to the issues and lack of content that have been plaguing the game since release, so l'll be focusing primarily on BF1 as that's the game I'm playing the most right now, however the points I'm about to make also apply to the other BF titles to a good degree. I believe all of these titles are extremely enjoyable on both console and PC with the exception of BF3 due to the technical limitations of the PS3 and Xbox 360 at the time, though the current gen consoles handle BF titles just fine. However, I believe BF is a more fair and balanced experience on console, here's why:

The primary reason I believe BF is a better experience on console is because everyone is on a level playing field. Practically everyone on console has the same hardware and the same type of controller meaning no player has an inherent advantage over another. On PC, your gameplay experience can vary drastically depending on what sort of hardware you have, players with better GPUs for example get much better frame rates, making them more accurate, and thus unfairly more effective over a player with a slower PC.

Elaborating on the topic of accuracy, sniping on PC is also far easier as a mouse allows you to be far more precise, making scouts excessively effective, at least in BF1. On console you're far less likely to be constantly killed by scouts on the other side of the map since you simply can't be quite as accurate with a controller. This encourages players to take on a more aggressive play style using a greater variety of classes to get closer to the enemy and objectives, ultimately creating a better gameplay experience. Don't get me wrong, you still get games on console where half the enemy team are scouts that refuse to attack any objectives and who don't use any other classes resulting in boring and/or frustrating games, that's an issue on both platforms caused simply by the poor decision making of some players choosing to camp or be selfish disregarding the needs of their team.

Please let me know what you guys think, I'd love to hear your viewpoints and maybe DICE might take some notes to better balance their games for each specific platform in the future as Battlefield plays differently on different platforms. I understand everyone has their preferences in play styles, but like I said, this is my opinion and you're more than welcome to challenge what I said.

Also, if you ever get the opportunity to try out a Battlefield title on a different platform, do it. The difference in gameplay might surprise you.

[BF] Looking for some squadmates PC: BC2, BF3, BF4

    Posted: 15 May 2020 08:31 AM PDT

So I'm getting back into pc gaming and Bad Company 2, BF3, and BF4 were always my favorite but they're so much better with a squad you can work with.

So if anyone wants to blow stuff up hit me up on here, or just add me on discord: AviationGamer#0618! I'm in the Eastern US if time zones matter to you.

[BF] Veterans.. What's considered too casual now in Battlefield.

    Posted: 15 May 2020 07:47 AM PDT

I see people saying this franchise is getting more and more on the casual side be it with 3d spotting or health regen'..

What are the most casual changes made over battlefields life cycle and would you like them changed?

I've returned to battlefield after 6 or so years so my knowledge isn't great. I'm playing battlefield 1 and I'm really enjoying most of it, 3d spotting can be annoying when it means you get shot through smoke etc..

[OPINION] CAN/SHOULD DICE move on from DX12 to VULKAN?

    Posted: 14 May 2020 09:45 PM PDT

DICE and AMD worked on the Mantle API which was essentially the precursor to Vulkan, yes I'm aware of the potential work required to do this but is it the right way to go?

DX12 doesn't seem to give the type of jumps in performance that we seem to expect and it's been a half baked feature since it was implemented in BF1.

    What's people's thoughts on this?

[BF5] is there any gun like the hellriegel?

    Posted: 15 May 2020 05:22 AM PDT

I've had battlefield 5 for a while now but for me the guns and weapons are a lot harder to use than those in battlefield 1, my more played and favourite battlefield. The one gun I always stick to using is the hellriegel because of its damage, how easy the sights are, how accurate it is, etc, however in bf5 obviously there is no gun like that. So I came here to ask people, do you know of a similar gun? At the moment I have been using the massive support gun for most of my time, however this is really inaccurate
